How We’ll Do It:
Every Four weeks you will take part in 3 group calls and 1 private coaching session with me.

Well last weekend, our family friend, John Stockton
was inducted into the basketball hall of fame. To
celebrate, I want to tell you a story and make you
a special offer on my Athlete’s Edge program…
Peak Performance Lessons from the Hall of Fame…
The first time I met John Stockton, I was ten years
old and he was fourteen. He was so small, that I
honestly thought he was my age. I was shocked
to hear that he played high school basketball.
(I guess that’s where he got used to those short
shorts!)
When I was thirteen, he explained to some of my
friends and me that the reason he made the team
at Gonzaga Prep was because at every tryout he
RAN as fast as he could through the entire practice.
He RAN to the drinking fountain. He RAN to the
locker room. He RAN to the huddle. He made the
team on pure hustle. I never forgo t that.
Our family followed his whole basketball career.
(Since his mother and mine were friends, you would
have thought Johnny was our kin.)
You should have seen everyone’s excitement when
he made the Olympic “Dream Team, and this week,
even in the digital age, Mom sent us the huge
newspaper clippings from our hometown paper.
This weekend John Stockton was inducted into the
Basketball Hall of fame along with Michael Jordan,
David Robinson, and coaches Jerry Sloan and Vivian
Springer.
The words of the point guard made me smile:
“…I do know that I played 30 years competitively:
three at St. Aloysius, four at Gonzaga Prep, four at
Gonzaga University – and all those years, not once,
never, was I the best player on the team.”
What encouragement for the “regular” guy!
If there is one peak performance lesson from John
Stockton it is thi s:
You do NOT have to be better than every one else to
leave a legacy. You just need to do what you do best,
and do it with passion!
